What is Domestic Violence?

An open door for survivors of domestic violence

Domestic violence is first and foremost a crime. It is defined as an on- going pattern of behaviors characterized by one partner gaining control over another partner though abusive behaviors.

These abusive behaviors are often manifested in a variety of patterns including physcial, sexual, psychological, and financial abuse.

Domestic violence can happen in any neighborhood and it doesn’t just stay at home. Domestic violence is NEVER the victim’s fault.
