Volunteers make Huntingdon House feel like home. They add warmth, vibrancy, and hope to our community, which promotes a strong support system and a consistent community for the victims and survivors of domestic violence. Volunteers grow from their experience as much as victims and survivors do. Here at Huntingdon House, everyone has a place to help. To volunteer, you will need to go through an interview/training and obtain your Pennsylvania Clearances. Please follow the steps below to take action to volunteer. With your help, Huntingdon House can further its mission of eliminating domestic violence in our county.

2. Interview

Schedule an in-person or phone interview with one of our staff members.

3. Training

Complete the free 45 hour training process to become certified.

4. Clearances

Obtain Pennsylvania Clearances and other required paperwork. Please follow the link to our PA Clearances webpage to complete this process.

Volunteer positions available: -Indirect Volunteer: these people do not come into contact with clients under any circumstances. Their duties would include doing odd jobs around the office, including sorting donation items, cleaning, and so on. -Counselor Advocate Volunteer: these people come into direct contact with our clients. They must be trained and certified to provide direct services for the shelter, answer the hotline, run the support group, and so on. -Hotline Volunteer: this position requires training and certification. These people will be direct service volunteer in charge of operating and answering our hotline number. -Donation Coordinator Volunteer: this position is open to anyone who would like to handle our donations of any kind. You would be responsible for organizing, managing, and keeping track of our donations.
